And Now For Something A Little Different....

Hi All! Today I am bringing you something a little different! Summer for me means some quality time with my family and one of the things we love to do as a family is craft together. My youngest daughter and I had a bit of parallel play. We each picked out a printers tray from our local craft store. If you haven't played with a printers tray before they are great fun. You can use them for more of a multiple picture photo frame, or as a memory tray or to tell a story, really anything, and that is what makes this a great project!

How did we do these, here is a simple step by step for you!

1. Measure out the sections of the tray and pick any type of paper that you would like for your background. I chose several different patterned papers to add a bit of interest. Next using  your favorite adhesive, adhere your background paper to the tray.
2. I decided to use my Bright Butterflies Image Sheet to create a butterfly theme for my project. I then decided on six different pendant trays and matching jewelers glass and using Fantastic Glaze and Glue adhered my glass to my images from the Bright Butterflies Image Sheet. I trimmed around the Jewelers Glass once it was dry and adhered the Jewelers Glass to the pendant trays using Fantastic Super Sticky Dots. (Southwest Tray, Large Glass Round, Oval Scroll Tray, Small Glass Oval, Medallion Tray. Twist Link Tray, Small Glass Round, Large Oval Pendant Tray, Large Oval Glass, Rectangle Pendant Tray, Glass Rectangle.)
3. As I then started to lay out what was going where I then pilled out some of my favorite Craft Fantastic charms. Once I had decided which ones I wanted to use, I then used a nippy cutter or wire cutter and snipped off the little piece where you would attach a jump ring from the various charms and pendant trays. Please note, when I snip off these little pieces, I tend to hold the snipper and the piece well into a garbage pail so that little piece doesn't go flying. Just my personal suggestion here. Also it is important to note, I didn't remove all of those little pieces. Some of the pendant trays have a pretty solid metal loop and for those I put a bow on them making it decorative.(Folk Heart Charm, Mini Bird Connector, Resin Flower Cabs, Butterfly Charm Collection, Key Medallion Tray, Lovebird Tray, Filigree Tray,
4. I then attached all my metal to the printers tray with double sided foam squares. I will have to see over time how well they stay stuck. I may at a later date go back and add to the adhesive if necessary.
5. As an additional finishing touch I added those cute little glass bottles with some glitter in them and some flowers around the edges of the printers tray and there you have it!

So what do you think? Do you like this project? Please comment and let me know!

Hugs,

Judy

Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #124 - Fiona's Masculine "Anything Goes" Challenge

Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #124 - Fiona's Masculine "Anything Goes" Challenge

Hi All and welcome to Watercooler Wednesday! This week we have Fiona's Masculine "Anything Goes"Challenge! Take a look at what i came up with.

For my background I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Mowed Lawn and Tumbled Glass. The sentiment is from a Lawn Fawn set called Happy Everything and the dog is from a Stampers Anonymous set called Crazy Dogs, and he is actually colored in with both distress inks and Copic markers. I love how he came out!

Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #123 - Marsha's "Fireworks" Theme Challenge

Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #123 - Marsha's "Fireworks" Theme Challenge

Hi All and welcome to Watercooler Wednesday! This week we have Marsha's "Fireworks" Theme Challenge! So without further ado, here is a card I made for this challenge!

Ifor my background I played with the original Tim Holtz Distress Inks but then I added in on top a bit of the new Distress Oxide Inks. I love how it gives a bit of an almost misty feel to the sky! And I just adore those sweet bunnies, colored in with Copic markers. These are from a Kraftin Kimmie stamp set called Hello Spring.  I just adore this image!

Mixed Media Canvas With Craft Fantastic

Hello All!

Just like many of you, I am a crafter. I love all kinds of crafting, and so today I am bringing you a mixed media canvas. I am using a standard 6 x 6 canvas, a bit of acrylic paint, one sheet of 6 x 6 paper, two sheets of 4 x 6 paper, some ephemera, gel medium, 1 Southwest Tray, 1 Extra Large Round Pendant Tray, 1 Watch Face Tray, 1 Large Glass Round, 1 Extra Large Glass Round, 1 Heart Key Tray, Fantastic Super Sticky Dots, and Fantastic Glaze and Glue.

1. Use the acrylic paint on the edges of the canvas and just enough to cover the front edges of the canvas.
2. Use your gel medium to cover the back of the 6 x 6 piece of paper and adhere to the front of the canvas. I did like the look of a not perfect edge so I did tear the edges of the paper before I adhered it to the canvas. Then use a bit more of the gel medium to seal the paper to the canvas.
3. Next trim down one of the 4 x 6 papers just a bit to fit the canvas to your liking. Again use your gel medium to attach to the canvas.

4. Continue to adhere your ephemera to your canvas with gel medium.
5. Now I chose to put one of my ephemera pieces under glass as well as an image that was on the other 4 x 6 paper. So use Fantastic Glaze and Glue on the flat side of your glass and adhere to your images. Hold until they grip. Once they are dry, trim any edges as necessary. Then using jewelers dots adhere the pieces in to the pendant trays.
6. Finally, use your gel medium to adhere the trays and the key to the front of the canvas.

And there you have your final project!

What do you think of this project? Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think!
